Biography

Artemis Vamianakis is a shareholder at Fabian VanCott, practicing complex commercial litigation and administrative law in the areas of energy and natural resources, real property, and employment law. She has significant experience in civil and administrative proceedings, appeals, and special investigations involving mine safety (MSHA), occupational safety (OSHA, UOSH), and industrial and mining accidents. Artemis also has experience drafting comments on proposed rulemaking and challenging final federal agency action such as EPA regulations promulgated under the Clean Air Act or penalties assessed by the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission (FMSHR). She also has considerable experience representing commercial clients in complex disputes including breach of contract claims, torts, breach of commercial lease claims, mechanic’s liens, warranty claims, wrongful termination, discrimination claims, water rights title, and several other areas. Artemis has successfully argued several motions, defeated claims on motions to dismiss and summary judgment, and resolved complex commercial disputes for clients through negotiation and mediation. She has been part of trial teams pursuing litigation in state and federal courts in Utah, in administrative hearings in Utah, Illinois, Kentucky, and West Virginia, and in administrative appeals before the FMSHRC, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals and the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Artemis received her law degree from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, where she graduated with honors and won numerous awards and scholarships while holding the position of Executive Director of the Global Justice Think Tank, completing a Quinney Research Fellowship, competing in the Jessup International Moot Court Competition, and completing an externship for a Utah Supreme Court justice. She earned a double-major, honors bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah, graduating summa cum laude. Artemis is licensed to practice in Utah’s state and federal courts and in the Tenth and D.C. Circuit Courts of Appeal.
