Spencer Hafen is an associate at Fabian VanCott. After graduating from Brigham Young University’s Marriott School of Business with a degree in Finance, Spencer attended and received his JD from BYU’s J. Reuben Clark Law School.

Fluent in Mandarin Chinese, Spencer previously worked in Beijing, China on international business transactions for China’s largest domestic law firm. Later, Spencer served as an extern for Magistrate Judge Paul Warner of the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah. In his career, Spencer has helped facilitate more than 100 separate real estate and related transactions totaling over $2 billion in value.

Spencer has served as a leader of numerous organizations, including as a member of the Board of Directors of the South Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce, the Utah State Bar Litigation Section Executive Committee, as a BYU Law School Trial Advocacy Team board member, as a BYU Law School Student Council member, and as a BYU Student Wellness Executive Committee member.

During his time in law school, Spencer volunteered as a mediator for the Utah County Justice Court and the BYU Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution. Before graduating from BYU, Spencer spent two years as a volunteer in Hong Kong and in Macau where he served in the community speaking Mandarin, Cantonese, and Chinese Sign Language.
