Scott M. Lilja is a partner and a member of Fabian VanCott’s Complex Litigation Practice Group.

Scott’s practice focuses in the areas of complex commercial litigation and appellate practice including litigation, negotiation and appeals in the areas of unfair competition and antitrust, land use, real estate, business and contracts, intellectual property, securities, and environmental law.

His practice also includes eminent domain litigation.

Professional History

Represented businesses in the successful prosecution of unfair competition and antitrust claims against private and public competitors.

Successfully represented businesses in eminent domain proceedings against the state of Utah and others.

Represented the court appointed receiver in the liquidation of an insolvent insurance company, including administrative proceedings and litigation in several states to collect assets of the estate.

Successful representation of business in tax appeal of improper and illegal personal and real property tax assessments.

Represented plaintiffs and defendants in cases involving intellectual property issues and claims in the areas of patent, trademark and copyright, including disputes concerning patented products and software copyrights.

Scott has represented plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of complex commercial litigation including business related cases in the areas of contract, real property, tax, securities, unfair competition and antitrust. He has handled litigation in state and federal courts of Utah, Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada Massachusetts, Florida, and elsewhere and has argued appeals in the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Utah Supreme Court, and the Utah Court of Appeals.
