Terence is an associate attorney at Fabian VanCott whose practice focuses on complex business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital investments, growth equity, joint ventures, restructurings, and leveraged buyouts. He first joined the firm as a summer associate in 2024 and returned as a full-time associate following graduation.

Terence earned his J.D. from Southern University Law Center, where he served on the Journal of Intellectual Property, Technology, and Law. During law school, he developed a strong interest in business law and gained practical experience through his internship with AbbVie (bio-pharmaceutical company) and Fabian VanCott.

As an undergraduate, Terence attended University of South Florida (Go Bulls) where he earned a degree in Finance. While attending USF, Terence started the Melville Foundation to assist the youth and families faced with socioeconomic challenges. As the executive director, the Foundation assisted more than 1200+ families through various events and partnerships.

Off the clock, Terence enjoys sports of all kinds (especially basketball, baseball, football, and golf), volunteering, and exploring national parks.

Terence is admitted to practice in Utah.

Professional History

Associate Attorney, Fabian VanCott, Salt Lake City, UT, 2024-Present. Terence joined the firm as a Summer Associate in 2024 and returned as a full-time Associate in 2025. Experience includes drafting articles of organization and operating agreements for LLCs, supporting M&A and Tax Partners in corporate restructures, and assisting with contract review and due diligence for acquisitions. Additional work includes litigation support, document review, and legal research on topics ranging from asbestos liability to AI regulation under the TCPA.

Corporate Legal Intern, AbbVie, Summer 2023. Terence supported the legal department on healthcare regulatory compliance, SEC disclosure preparation, and contract review. Drafted memoranda on state healthcare laws, developed a cross-functional mitigation trackers, and reviewed materials for compliance with FDA and Anti-Kickback Statute guidelines.

Executive Director, Melville Foundation Inc., 2020 – 2023.  Terence led a nonprofit organization focused on education, food security, and community empowerment. Oversaw strategic planning, partnership development, and community outreach, positively impacting over 1,200 families and collaborating with more than 20 partner organizations (Staples, ALDI, Publix, and local businesses.
