William’s practice focuses primarily on estate planning, asset protection, charitable giving, probate, corporate, partnership, and limited liability formation and governance, and state and federal estate, gift, and income taxation. William’s practice also includes succession planning for business owners, general contract transactions, real estate purchase, sale, and leasing, entity and asset purchasing and sales, and administrative litigation. William has filed estate and trust, gift tax and estate tax returns, and has represented clients before state and federal courts, the US Tax Court, the IRS, the Utah Tax Commission, and the USDA under PACA. Due to William’s broad legal background, William recognizes that estate planning requires understanding the client’s personal and business goals, designing a coherent plan, and coordinating with the client’s CPA and other financial advisors to mitigate tax consequences and to ensure the orderly transfer of the client’s business interests and personal assets. Outside law, William enjoys landscape and wildlife photography, fly fishing, hiking, cross country skiing, Xeriscape gardening, and Bonsai.
